Snowland Great Rivers Environmental Protection Association is a non-governmental environmental protection association registered under the Civil Administration Bureau & is formed mainly by Tibetans.The Association aims at promoting & conserving the environment & fine ecological culture of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau & at caring about the sustainable development of the area.

3 great rivers sources is at the hinterland of the Third Pole, Qinghai-Tibet plateau. It is the source of Changjiang, Yellow River & Lancang River& has been known as ‘Asia’s Ice tower’.The average altitude is 4000m above sea level.Its forests are at the highest altitude of the world.It is covered with alpine bushes, grassy marshlands, prairies & scattered lakes & marshes. Its rivers have the most tributaries, it has the richest wetland resources & vegetation types. It is the primeval habitat of many wild animals that are only found in the Qinghai-Tibet plateau. They include wild yaks, Tibetan wild donkeys, Tibetan antelopes, snow leopards & black-necked cranes.The ecological environment is still at the primeval state.However, as the global ecological conditions get worse, globalization & regional economic development fast developing, the local ecological environment & natives’ culture face various challenges.Thus it is our duties to conserve the local ecological environment, promote the establishment of plateau ecological culture & enhance sustainable development of local communities
